Job Description
- Assign appropriate medical codes to diagnoses and procedures for accurate billing and reimbursement
- Review patient medical records for completeness and accuracy
- Ensure compliance with all coding guidelines and regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times
- Stay current on industry updates and changes in coding procedures
- Work closely with billing and auditing teams to reconcile coding discrepancies
- Proactively communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to obtain necessary information
- Participate in continuing education and training to enhance coding skills
- Assist in training new coders and interns as needed
